Volunteerism and community service are an important part of the history of our State and Nation. New Mexicans have always been a deeply generous people, willing to help those in need. That was true before September 11, 2001 - and it is even truer now.

In his State of the Union address, President Bush called upon every American to commit to at least two years of their lives - the equivalent of 4,000 hours - to serve in their community. He announced the creation of USA Freedom Corps in an effort to help every American answer his call to service by strengthening and expanding service opportunities for them to protect our homeland and support our communities.

For more information, please visit the USA Freedom Corps website and find out how to answer the President's call to service. For those who answer the President's call, an online Record of Service is available for documenting their service to the community.
