New Mexico First engages people in the democratic process. Our organization brings together people from all walks of life to identify practical solutions to the state’s toughest problems. We are best known for our statewide town halls, through which we have engaged thousands of people in public policy.
This year, our focus is youth achievement and raising their aspirations. We know that today’s young people are our greatest asset, because they will be our next generation of teachers, engineers, energy technicians, artists, entrepreneurs, doctors, and builders. We also know that this generation will need their education more than ever, with high-level thinking, science, reading, math, and technology skills required in almost every field.
It is essential that our young people thrive in school, and it is equally important that their families, schools and communities provide the support those youth need to excel. For these reasons, New Mexico First is holding a series of five regional town halls on youth achievement.
