Families and Youth-AmeriCorps Program, in Las Cruces, is having an excellent semester! Even though our group includes a diverse group of members we have learned to work with each other and even care for each other! During this semester, the members have volunteered in a service project at least once a month. We have also encouraged our participants from afterschool, in-school support, and communities out-reach programs to contribute. The AmeriCorps group in Las Cruces is getting things done for our city!

Our Service Project for Martin Luther King Day was located at the public library.  We want to give back to community in an educational way.  Our service project was based on Martin Luther and Black History Month.  Members were responsible for various booths which included snacks, story time, drum circle, a relay races, and activity center.  During the event we also had a donations booth where we collected change for Haiti.  Overall, this was a successful event!
