Mission and VisionAmeriCorps alums are a national network of civic leaders who are actively engaged in shaping their communities. Bound together by a commitment to service, AmeriCorps alums are a transformative power to create a better world for all. The mission of AmeriCorps Alums is to connect, support and mobilize AmeriCorps alums in order to strengthen our communities and our nation.
AmeriCorps Alums represents the 550,000 alumni of AmeriCorps National Service, who together constitute a powerful force for change in this country. AmeriCorps Alums helps alumni continue to “get things done” by connecting alumni, advancing their commitment to service, supporting and advocating for AmeriCorps programs and building the capacity of alumni to be agents of change in their communities.

AmeriCorps Alums, the national network for over 700,000 alumni of National Service, has released their prestigious Eli Segal Entrepreneurship Award to honor alumni whose work, after completing his or her service in AmeriCorps, demonstrates entrepreneurial vision and leadership to make this a better world.

Teacher Certification and Training Programs across the Country
Everyone understands that great teachers are essential to improving student achievement. Great teachers help students master new skills, make progress, and overcome challenges that might otherwise derail them from succeeding in school.
Unfortunately, the students who need great teachers most are least likely to get them, and the results are predictable: By the end of high school, African-American and Hispanic students write and do math at the level of the typical White eighth grader.
Washington, DC - The Corporation for National and Community Service is seeking applications from former AmeriCorps members who are interested in serving as the 2012-2013 Eli Segal Fellow, a year-long leadership opportunity to help advance national service policy, operations, and strategy at the Corporation for National and Community Service headquarters.
This prestigious fellowship was created in 2006 to honor the legacy of Eli Segal, who was a key architect of the 1993 national service legislation and served as the first CEO of CNCS from 1993 to 1995. In recognition of Eli Segal’s leadership and entrepreneurship, the Board of Directors of the Corporation for National and Community Service created the Eli Segal Fellowship. This prestigious fellowship is open to AmeriCorps alumni who have exceptional leadership, drive, and commitment who will help to advance the mission and strategic goals of CNCS.

Grassroots Campaigns: Careers In Grassroots Field Organizing
Grassroots Campaigns was started in 2003 by a group of experienced community activists. Since then, its goal has been to build support for progressive causes through engaging everyday people in political action.
Grassroots Campaigns works with organizations like the American Civil Liberties Union, Oxfam America and Save the Children. In building support for these groups, it is able to help shape a national dialogue and bring needed awareness to countless issues. Additionally, the organization does electoral work, including voter registration and Get-Out-The-Vote.
Union Institute & University , www.myunion.edu, a fifty year old, accredited, non-profit, distance learning university, has graciously agreed to offer AmeriCorps alumni one of two special scholarships. We are providing a $3,000 undergraduate scholarship or a $2,000 scholarship towards our graduate programs to the alumni. The scholarships are applicable for students enrolled full time at Union, and are distributed over 4 semesters.
