NM Centennial LogoNew Mexico will honor its 100th birthday in 2012. Working with a Task Force appointed by Governor Richardson, and a Steering Committee of cultural, civic, and educational leaders, the Department of Cultural Affairs is collaborating with agencies statewide to coordinate and the statehood Centennial.

We Serve/New Mexico will link volunteer organizations across the state in preparation for New Mexico’s 100th Anniversary in 2012


SANTA FE – Governor Bill Richardson today announced a new statewide initiative called We Serve/New Mexico that will work with communities across the state to prepare for New Mexico’s 100th anniversary. We Serve/New Mexico will be made up of volunteers that will lead community clean-ups, graffiti and weed eradication, beautification projects, repairs and restorations, recycling projects, educational projects and services to youth and elders over the next two years.

2012 NM Centennial Service Opportunities PDF Print E-mail

One of the most important components of our Centennial is volunteerism and community service, with many New Mexicans excited about the chance to “give a birthday present of their time” to our state. While the official Centennial will launch in Fall 2011 and continue through 2012, the Centennial Community Service Initiative will launch in early 2010. It’s a grand opportunity to show your community spirit by getting involved in one of the many service projects that will be taking place in the state. More information about this will soon be available on the NM Commission for Community Volunteerism website.
